What? What’s going on here? Why did I not hear “WORLDSTAR” being shouted by everyone in the audience? If a fight breaks out and no one yells “Worldstar,” did that fight even happen?

I was just at Beachwood Mall on Christmas Eve doing some last minute gift shopping and let me tell you, I sympathize with these brawlers 100%. Tensions run high, you can’t walk without bumping in to everyone, people walk slow, your personal space is non existent. I would welcome a night at Guantanamo Bay rather than having to shop at a mall on Christmas Eve. Christmas shopping sucks.

Oh, what’s that you say? They weren’t all grumpy because they were Christmas shopping? According to the description of the video on YouTube the fight was started after one girl stepped on another girl’s Jordans. I take back everything I said about sympathizing. That’s actually incredible.

My favorite part is at :40 when the girl gets in one last kick for good measure.

And WTF Beachwood. You’re Beachwood. This isn’t Parma or Eastlake (sorry, went to Willoughby South, it’s ingrained in me). Clean it the fuck up.

I mean, I can see if this fight was over some Bottlegate t-shirts, or the results of our “Cleveland’s Hottest Professional Athlete” poll, but c’mon now.

    1. Lots of parents allow their kids who are as young as 5 years old watch and enjoy this kind of barbaric behavior on reality tv. Therefore, kids think it’s cool to act disrespectful and ghetto in a classy, high-end mall like Beachwood Place. The least the teens could have done is take their drama to a ghost town like Randall Park Mall. Show some respect for those who like cleanliness, decency, class and style for goodness sakes. Why hurt the image of other decent-acting black kids and teens who like to shop at a nice mall like Beachwood Place? It’s not fair. This society is self-centered and narcissistic and these self-focused hoodlums fail to realize they’ve intensified the problems between police and blacks in this country. This video is being seen across the world. I hope no one forgets there are plenty of parents who do not allow their children to be exposed barbaric ghetto-ness on reality tv nor condone it. Decent black folks with proper home training do exist.

  14. Why are people praised for videotaping this when in reality they should have tried to stop the fight? Stop glorifying this behavior! It’s disgusting.

    Another thing: Let’s not forget that this was supposedly started because someone stepped on another’s shoes. Last time I stepped on someone’s shoes I sincerely apologized. No punches thrown, no cussing out necessary. People understand that accidents happen. This, to me, does not look like an accident. This looks intentional because nobody in their right mind would start a fight over stepping on someone’s feet.

I’m not exactly sure what you said (artical? kind of easiest?) but please feel free to post links where you find this kind of behavior in ‘good’ areas that is not perpetrated by the demographic you are trying to protect/defend here. There is civilized behavior and then there is behavior that is far out of line like this, with a total disrespect for anything or anyone other than themselves. Someone stepped on my shoes – so let’s brawl in the food court? In what world would that be an appropriate and civilized response, in your opinion? Don’t try to deflect and claim racism, just please answer the question. This event, the one in 2010, the one at the Pittsburgh mall (and countless other public places) all have a common theme. Please tell me why that behavior is acceptable, or should be considered acceptable, in a civilized society?

  18. All the comments on this artical are extremely racist calling human being animals or hoodrats is completely the opposite of classy. I was there and personally I walked away all the “classy” peroole watched. Real class is not giving these situations the time of day instead or racial profiling, calling them animal, and hoodrats. Because the color of my skin I get profiled as a “hoodrats” all the time even though i was raised in highland heights and attended Hathaway Brown since kindergarten where I graduated, and am currently in grad school at Case Western it really is a shame that its going to be even more difficult going to Beachwood now

    1. Why don’t you get angry at the people that act in such a fashion that serve to reinforce the stereotype? Do I think it’s a majority of blacks? No. However, if you don’t like the consequences that result from people acting out of control then why don’t you take a stand and become part of the solution? No white person can assume that role as they’d be considered racist (an easy term to throw around these days). However, when black people do (Dr. Ben Carson, Allen West, etc.) they are chastised by the same community they would like nothing more than to uplift. Why? I’d love to see more video of other blacks condemning this behavior and calling for greater personal accountability and respect for others. Call out these people that do not act in a civilized manner or always choose to solve disputes in a violent manner. Be a part of the solution….we have enough people taking the victim role already.

  20. I worked at beachwood mall about 3yrs ago and it was getting ghetto then. Chicks like this only come there to steal and cause trouble. Southpark is the only nice mall around now. Probably because its too far from Cleveland for these ratchets to catch the rta there.

  24. This is old news. The media should be ashamed of portraying this scene as something current. It’s been handled. It’s over. Is it really fair for young black teens to be stereotyped in 2014 for something that happened four years ago. This video has opened a new can of worms for the racial tension that’s already in existence.

    2. @Movingon first let me say I respect your opinion, but c’mon now let’s get real here racial tension has always been at an all time high this new age of social media/networking and camera phones has just made it easier to bring to light; these computers have also made it easier for the less than intellectual of the latter to sling derogatory, racial slurs from a key board as easily as a monkey slinging its own excrement. The smart ones know that not all young black teens behave in this manner but there is enough of them that glorify this type of behavior and they show little concern, if any at all, for who is watching/judging them they practically exploit themselves (refer to worldstarhiphop.com that site is guaranteed to make you sick to your stomach it should be shut down). I have younger siblings and cousins that I have had to defend because people have prejudged them based on videos like these and the fact that they are “young black teens”. The saying that it takes a village to raise a child couldn’t be more true as there obviously wasn’t a positive enough mentor present in the lives of these children to raise them to know better and if they don’t know by now they usually learn too late.

This is very shameful it’s crazy because when you’re in a crowded area (i.e. a mall leading up to or following the days after a national holiday) you have to expect that the chances of your shoes being stepped on are going to be very high. You have the self proclaimed “sneaker heads” out here but my thing is this if you can stand in line and purchase shoes that cost $150.00 + you better be able to afford the upkeep. When the opportunity to be the bigger person presents itself, it should always be taken. I hate to admit it but when people act like this they welcome the stereotypes, the slurs, the disrespect with open arms; No I’m not saying it’s right but we as a people have to do better. Everyone standing there watching and recording are just as bad as the ones fighting why even encourage that mess or be entertained by it? At what point will you young ones realize that a shoe is not worth fighting/killing for???

    1. The mainstream media report that I read glossed over the fact that the brawlers were all black. Mainstream media always attempts to cover up the reality of black criminality. Non Blacks and Blacks profile blacks because a rational person understands the reality that blacks are far more likely to be disruptive or criminal than non blacks. Sorry, but it is an irrefutable statement of fact. Many blacks are high quality people but they are being pulled into the stereotype because of the overall high level of black criminality. Many pit bulls are good dogs but I generally fear them because of their overall propensity to be vicious.

  28. Beachwood Place used to be a nice place. This kind of ignorance should not be tolerated. Where are the parents? Why do these girls think this kind of behavior is acceptable? I can’t get mad when people call them hoodrats or animals because that is what they are acting like. Are all African-American hoodrats? Of course not! However I am not going to get upset when someone calls a hoodrat a hoodrat. It is what it is.

This jordan shoe epidemic is out of control. You are going out of your way to buy a pair of shoes when your rent cant be paid. Nevermind the fact that they only last you 6months.   38. This is really pathetic!! These youngsters don’t realize how much damage they may actually have done to the shopping comfort level at the Beachwood Place Mall. I hope it doesn’t end up like Randall Mall. That would really be ashamed. When I used to work out there years ago Beachwood was too classy of a place for this kind of behavior, but not anymore it seems. I’m not being racist, I’m Black and don’t condone this kind of behavior from anyone!! Damn shame what they are on the verge of losing.
