Cavs v Blazers Thursday Game Tape; No LeBron, No Problem (basically all Kyrie highlights)

Wow. Well how about that ride in? In a game where LeBron was out, LaMarcus Aldridge was en fuego, and the rest of the players on the Cavaliers couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn, Kyrie Irving showed up in a big big big way. Career high w/55 points. Cavs record for 3 pointers in a game. All of this capped off by a DAGGER 3 pointer over Nicholas Batum to win the game. Just an unreal performance from Uncle Drew. He also started the game off 0-7 which makes this performance even more unbelievable.

So the Cavs sit at 27-20 and are winners of 8 in a row. All of the BS talk of firing David Blatt has subsided and the team finally looks like they’re starting to gel. All of this comes at the heels of the subtraction of Dion Waiters and the additions of Timofey Mozgov, JR Smith, and Iman Shumpert… whom I’m officially nicknaming the “Holy Trinity.”

holytrinity

I’ve maintained my stance that I don’t care how the team looks in December/January/February, I only care that they start to hit their stride in March/April/May. If LeBron wants to sit out a couple more games, then so be it. Sit out all you want, bro. As they showed last night, this team is good enough to win without LeBron.

Let’s look at some game tape

1st thing- The guy from the Mentor Nissan commercial looks EXACTLY like Joey Fatone from NSYNC

Mozgov gave ’em the Oopty Oop

Kyrie did LaMarcus Aldridge so so so dirty right here

Ballgame

LeBron looked pretty excited after that shot

And here you go, check out the highlight video the NBA released. Filthy. Just filthy.

The locker room celebration was wet and wild as well

1. JR, C’mon man I know you’ve got a better quality phone than this. What is this anyway?  A first edition 2005 Motorola Razor flip phone? Clean it up, man.

2. Portland is one of the top teams in the Western Conference. This was a great win with LeBron not playing.

3. Just like the Cavs teams when LeBron was first here, this team seems to genuinely like each other. I think that’ll be very important down the stretch and into the playoffs.

UPDATE: There’s wayyyy better versions

There’s a campaign to get LeBron to participate in this year’s dunk contest (video)

Huh? Why? I know it’s for charity and blah blah blah but I have to admit, I don’t even want to see LeBron in the dunk contest. Did anyone watch the dunk contest last year? It was AWFUL. It was an East team vs a West team in 2 rounds, a freestyle round and then a head to head round. So we didn’t get one singular winner, we got a team of winners.

I don’t want LeBron to be relegated to this nonsense. He just turned 30, the dunk contest is for the up and comers. Yes, it is beneath him. Plus, the less jumping and running he does on All Star weekend, the better. Keep those springs fresh for April, May, and June.

The only thing that is going to happen is that LeBron will politely decline and then write a check matching whatever gets donated (I hope). Mark it down.

Also, odd strategy for the Boys and Girls Club to target LeBron James and put him on the spot when just a few years ago a certain made for TV announcement raised $2 million, and also saw $500K worth of computers from Hewlett Packard and $500K worth of gear from Nike donated to clubs across the country… but that’s none of my business…
