Cavs v Bulls Wednesday Game Tape; One more. Just one more.

No one ever said it was going to be easy. After blowing a huge fourth quarter lead the Cavs were able to hang on and beat the Bulls 106-101. LeBron had 38, 12 & 6 and ZERO TURNOVERS; Kyrie added 25 playing on 1/2 of a leg; Shumpert and JR combined for 25 points; Tristan Thompson did his thing on the offensive glass per usual; Taj Gibson cried; and Delly clamped down the most vicious leg lock that’s ever been seen on this side of the Mississippi

One more. All we need is one more.

Let’s look at the game tape

clechibox5 clechistats5

Remember when Joakim Noah had the most basic 2 handed dunk ever and acted like it was a between the legs windmill tomahawk slam? Good times. God I hate his face.

Tristan got conked right in the noggin and then D-Rose picked up the ball and scooped it in. Poor TT.

Joe Thomas made an appearance and was looking dapper as fuck

And he went HAM when he was pumping up the crowd

If I’ve said it once I’ve said it a thousand times- NOTHING and I mean NOTHING is funnier than when Joakim Noah has a basketball in his hands

It’s laughable that teams haven’t learned to not foul LeBron when he does this

#PipeDunk

#CrewLove and skinny pants

This shit right here gave me flashbacks to game 3 and the Bulls hitting lucky ass shots

Man, I love Delly. Just buzzes and buzzes around your face like a mosquito until you’re forced to swat (kick) at him.

Good job, Matty! You old sailor you!

Taj got ejected and some Cleveland hero decided to toss him a very meaningful and heartfelt parting gift

I specifically screamed “NOOOOOOYESSSSSSS!!!!” after this shot. If he starts making threes on a consistent basis (big IF right now) it’s going to be dangerous

LeBron Chasedown: Activated

Cavs win. *Exhale*

Couple quick thoughts:

– Kyrie Irving is a god damn warrior. Playing on 2 nub legs and he’s still able to drop 25 AND outplay Derrick Rose. Unreal, man. The guy has balls of steel. I’ve gained A TON of respect for Kyrie the more this series has gone on.

– Chuck Booms being on Twitter and being unfiltered is just the absolute best (this tweet was comparing Nikola Mirotic and King Leonidas.

He kinda nailed it too tbh

– Posted this pic last night and people WERE NOT a fan of these two kids. The Twitter followers spewed lots of venom their way. Consider this a life lesson to little Timmy and Tommy- When you grow up people will hate your guts if you’re a bandwagon fan.

– NO MORE THIRTY POINT FOURTH QUARTERS ALLOWED BY THE DEFENSE FROM HERE ON OUT, K?

– If I’m a Bulls fan it really chaps my ass to see Kyrie Irving out there lighting it up on a half a leg while Pau Gasol sits on the bench in street clothes because he has a tight hammy. Pau, it’s the playoffs, everyone is hurt.

– Jimmy Butler hitting 3 point shots with under 1 minute in the fourth quarter will haunt me for years to come.

-Mike’s hot take gameplan to win game 6 in Chicago: Limit the open shots taken by Derrick Rose, Jimmy Butler and Mike fucking Dunleavy. Think I just earned myself a spot on the Cavs coaching staff.

– LeBron and I had the same exact reaction when we found out that he had zero turnovers last night

– How about Taj Gibson bitching because he got one of those rally towels thrown at him after he was ejected. A TOWEL. #PrayForTaj

-If you compare Delly’s little leg clamp to Kelly Olynyk maliciously ripping Kevin Love’s shoulder off of his body then you’re a god damn moron. Oh weird, that’s exactly what Mike Dunleavy did.

– It’d be great if the Cavs can close out this series on Thursday. This team needs all the rest and recovery they can get.

– Sucks that LeBron isn’t as explosive as he used to be.

– I’ve officially transferred all my hate from Joakim Noah into Mike Dunleavy. Joakim is so irrelevant right now it just makes no sense to put that much effort into despising him.

See you guys on Thursday.

Cavs in 6.

Cavs v Bulls game 2 Thursday Game Tape; Perfect Booties for everyone!

*Exhale*

The Cavs don’t suck. LeBron isn’t over the hill. Coach Blatt does know what he’s doing. The Cavs aren’t “the 2013 Knicks.” We’re not getting swept. We can defend a pick and roll. Joakim Noah IS still ugly.

Needed that one last night and the Cavs came out with a fire lit under their asses from the opening tip. In a game where the Cavs never trailed, LeBron basically did everything a mortal could accomplish on a basketball court; Kyrie Irving dropped a quiet 21 points; DELLY was 1 point and 1 assist away from a double double; James Jones had 17; and Iman Shumpert continued his fantastic run in the playoffs adding 15 and playing tenacious D.

Let’s look at the game tape

clechibox2

The Cavs jumped out to a 38-18 lead after the first quarter.

When this face makes an appearance it’s a wrap

The best part of the night (aside from the bludgeoning of Chicago) was Kevin Love sitting with his teammates on the bench

LeBron sent Jimmy Butler out of Cleveland with his tail in between his legs

Everyone knew Mike Dunleavy wouldn’t be able to keep up his hot shooting from the first game but no one knew it would be this bad

Spicoli somehow got courtside seats for the game

Maybe the prettiest play of the night. He makes it look so damn easy.

The Bulls DOUBLE TEAMED Tristan Thompson so he couldn’t get an offensive rebound. Interesting strategy by Coach Thibs.

Delly oop. Tristan slam.

Couple quick thoughts:

– Love Coach Blatt’s adjustments this game. Inserting Tristan Thompson into the starting lineup was a helluva call and he had a lot to do with the 38-18 first quarter gallop. Numbers never lie.

– The whole “Derrick Rose kinda stinks on 1 day of rest” thing was in full force last night. Every game till game 7 is on 1 day of rest so let’s hope that theory holds true to form.

– Freaking Delly was 1 assist and 1 point away from a double-double. If Matthew Dellavedova is getting double-doubles in the playoffs then this Cavs team will be very very hard to beat.

– The Cavs skit shown on the humongotron was incredibly dumb. It wasn’t malicious of any sort but it was just stupid and unfunny. I hope no one gets fired because some people were offended on Twitter. Just be less tone deaf and be a little better next time, k guys?

– Man I loved seeing Kevin Love out there. I really miss the guy.

– Aggressive LeBron is the best LeBron. He needs to be in that mode every night if we’re gonna win this damn thing.

– Man I hope Thibs keeps giving Joakim Noah meaningful minutes. The dude has been completely irrelevant so far this series. 4 points in 2 games for Noah is music to my ears.

– I see the people from Chicago are already starting to chirp about Derrick Rose’s lack of free throws. Don’t be surprised to see Rose go to the line a lot in game 3.

Really good article by Chris Haynes of Cleveland.com on Kevin Love

– Guess who’s back, back again, JR’s back, tell a friend

jrsmithsmiling

-Joakim Noah gave a fan a little love tap last night. It’s hilarious how much space LeBron and Cleveland occupy in his head

– There hasn’t been one single lead change this entire series. Pretty odd.

– Last night’s game was a perfect example of why James Jones is on this team. Don’t expect 17 points from him every game but we’ll need him to hit big shots throughout the playoffs

– I think it’s pretty clear that looking at “PerfectBooties” on Instagram is the recipe for success for this team

Cavs-Celtics Game 1 Monday Game Tape

Ah, Monday Game Tapes are baby, baby! It’s going to be a quick one today since I was at the game and these are almost impossible to do if you’re not keeping a running post while watching the game at home (fire up the excuse train CHOO CHOO).

The Cavs came out and did what they needed to do to take a 1-0 series lead. Obviously emotions were high and it showed in the first quarter but once everyone slowed down it was smooth sailing from there.

Kyrie dropped 30, Kevin added 19 & 12, LeBron had a ho hum 20, 7, & 6, Tristan Thompson seemed like he was everywhere, and Kelly Olynyk’s bloody eye gave us all nightmares.

Here are your highlights:

The Q was rocking during pregame intros. I’m a sucker for those light up glow sticks that they hand out

20150419_145919

I’m pretty sure our section collectively pissed our pants during this K-Love hook pass to LeBron for a fast break dunk. LeBron also gave Evan Turner a staredown that even made me a little nervous for Evan’s well being.

KYRI33333

During halftime some dude stood on about 20 metal chairs and did handstands and stuff. It was thrilling, exhilarating and I couldn’t take my eyes off of him. What a showman.

Joe Haden was very concerned during the performance

Playoff scrums are the best scrums

His name is James Jones and he’s been here before (peep K. Love’s reaction on the bench)

Mozgov took a shot right to his huge Russian nuts. Poor guy.

Something weird happened to Kelly Olynyk’s eye and GOO!!

Couple quick thoughts:

-The energy at the Q was slightly above average. I’m pretty sure it’s because Boston isn’t that great but you’d think the first playoff game in Cleveland in forever would have warranted a little more excitement.

– I was in the same section as Jared Sullinger’s family. Before I knew who he was I HATED Jared’s brother JJ. Our section wasn’t too fond of him either. I found out it was JJ about midway through the 3rd quarter and felt bad for the things I was thinking. Former Buckeye, gotta respect that.

20150419_155329

– LeBron’s gotta feel pretty good about not having to do any of the heavy lifting this game. If he can rely on Kyrie and Kevin for these early series and coast through these games, I think we’ll see a very healthy and springy LeBron come ECF and Finals time.

– If I’m Brad Stevens I’m not taking Isaiah Thomas out of the game. I don’t think there’s really any Cavs player on the roster who could do a great job of guarding him. He’s a waterbug.

– The girl who sang the National Anthem absolutely CRUSHED it. Great story too if you get a chance to read up on it.

– Gotta love Shawn Marion. Comes in for 30 seconds and gets 2 crucial steals at the end of the 3rd quarter.

– Hopefully JR Smith can stay out of foul trouble. Definitely need to see more of him.

– Saw Marcus Smart catch an elbow to the face and it made my heart all warm and fuzzy.

All in all it was a great first playoff win for Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving and co. One down, fifteen more to go. Like I said, this was going to be a short Game Tape, we’ll be better for game 2. Promise.
