From People.com:
“Shelby, North Carolina, police have released the dash-cam footage from alleged gunman Dylann Roof’s arrest.
Roof, 21, was apprehended in North Carolina hours after he allegedly opened fire on unsuspecting parishioners at the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, killing nine people.
In the raw footage, police officers can be seen high-fiving and fist-bumping after making the arrest last Thursday. Later that night, Roof was flown back to South Carolina, where he was charged with nine counts of murder.
Shelby police Chief Jeff Ledford described Roof’s arrest as uneventful. “He sat down here very quietly,” he said. “He was not problematic.”
Police also released the 911 call that led to Roof’s arrest. In the audio clip, Todd Frady describes the suspect and his vehicle to officers. “Black Hyundai, it has this weird circle tag on the front,” he says, “and the boy has a bowl-lookin’ haircut.”
Pretty cool moment right there.
People all over the world’s hearts were and very much still are hurting for the victims, their families and anybody involved in this unspeakable tragedy. I know I can’t even imagine what they’re going through. You can’t really, unless one of these senseless acts of evil that you never think could happen to you and your loved ones, happens to you and your loved ones.
But it’s little moments like this that come as a result of these disasters that give you some hope. The “Boston Strong” mantra after the marathon attack comes to mind right away. The way the city came together, the countless stories of people selflessly helping each other, even the guy who shoveled off the race’s finish line this past winter. That’s the stuff that gives you the chills in a good way.
This was one of those moments. Not celebratory but coming out of relief. Relief that they can finally tell the families of the victims, “We got the son of a bitch.”
One for the good guys.
