Cops high five and fist bump after catching Charleston shooter

From People.com:

“Shelby, North Carolina, police have released the dash-cam footage from alleged gunman Dylann Roof’s arrest.

Roof, 21, was apprehended in North Carolina hours after he allegedly opened fire on unsuspecting parishioners at the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, killing nine people.

In the raw footage, police officers can be seen high-fiving and fist-bumping after making the arrest last Thursday. Later that night, Roof was flown back to South Carolina, where he was charged with nine counts of murder.

Shelby police Chief Jeff Ledford described Roof’s arrest as uneventful. “He sat down here very quietly,” he said. “He was not problematic.”

Police also released the 911 call that led to Roof’s arrest. In the audio clip, Todd Frady describes the suspect and his vehicle to officers. “Black Hyundai, it has this weird circle tag on the front,” he says, “and the boy has a bowl-lookin’ haircut.”

Pretty cool moment right there.

People all over the world’s hearts were and very much still are hurting for the victims, their families and anybody involved in this unspeakable tragedy. I know I can’t even imagine what they’re going through. You can’t really, unless one of these senseless acts of evil that you never think could happen to you and your loved ones, happens to you and your loved ones.

But it’s little moments like this that come as a result of these disasters that give you some hope. The “Boston Strong” mantra after the marathon attack comes to mind right away. The way the city came together, the countless stories of people selflessly helping each other, even the guy who shoveled off the race’s finish line this past winter. That’s the stuff that gives you the chills in a good way.

This was one of those moments. Not celebratory but coming out of relief. Relief that they can finally tell the families of the victims, “We got the son of a bitch.”

One for the good guys.

USWNT’s “American Woman” hype video for the WWC is fire and you’re allowed to like it

A wise/psychotic woman once told me while cussing me out in front of the entire cafeteria in high school, “I may be a bitch, but I’m a bad bitch. Rememba dat.” If there’s a badder bitch than Abby Wambach when the guitar drops in this video, I’d like to meet her.

wam21I know it’s “cool” to hate on soccer, and if you don’t like it that’s completely fine by me, but if you hate on America I wish you nothing but strife and misfortune. Our star-and-striped ladies are ranked second in the world and begin their quest for a third World Cup title tonight at 7:30 ET against Australia (what are the odds). They haven’t won one since 1999 and are coming off a heartbreaking loss in penalty kicks to Japan in the 2011 final. Two of my main girls are a little banged up in Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe, but the aforementioned Wambach and Canadian mynx Sydney LeRoux are good to go (look at her Instagram, I dare you).

Sure, goalie Hope Solo may or may not have tried to beat some cops and FIFA has all sorts of shit going on right now, but you start singing the Star-Spangled Banner and I’m there. Rock, flag and eagle baby.

It doesn’t get any more American than this 14 foot bald eagle snow sculpture

You know what they do for guys like this? They make theme songs for guys like this:

The only thing this picture is missing is a fireworks display, some apple pie, a Pamela Anderson red bikini Baywatch cutout and Hulk Hogan himself.

Don’t really know much about the photo other than it was taken in Napoleon, Ohio. If this guy made this recently then huge huge props to him for withstanding the freezing temperatures and creating this masterpiece.

I spent all weekend sitting inside bitching about the cold, binge watching Netflix and drinking hot chocolate while this guy was busy turning a 14 foot mound of snow into a patriotic landmark with his bare hands. In related news I’m a huge pussy.
