God Bless Whoever Gets Hired As The New Browns Social Media Coordinator

If there’s a more thankless job in America tell me what it is so I can call you a liar. No person doing their job that I can think of gets more unwarranted  hate thrown their way than the person who runs the Cleveland Browns Twitter account. It doesn’t matter what’s said or when it’s said, there will always be mad fans sending tweets to the Browns during a losing season.

I know I couldn’t do that job. I got murdered on Twitter over the weekend for saying a Jay Z song was better than a Biggie song and I still haven’t fully recovered. I couldn’t do a job with all the “fuck you’s” and smartass comments that account receives daily. Some are usually funny but most are just dumb.

The dumb people are the people who actually think by tweeting or complaining about the Browns to the official Twitter account will somehow make them play better on the field or their comments will specifically shown to Ray Farmer or Jimmy Haslam. Like “hey, I’m pissed off we’re losing, lemme send a mean tweet to @Browns. That’ll show ’em how serious I really am!!” I don’t think people realize there’s just some sad miserable soul at the other side of that account reading every response who has absolutely nothing to do with what goes on in Berea.

This is also a big loss for the people who go “Well that intern just got fired” if a team’s social media account screws something up. Gotta have that 4 year college degree if you want to send out tweets from @Browns. Newsflash- Twitter/Facebook/Instagram are the best platforms to connect with fans. Do you really think some slapdick intern is going to be in charge of social media accounts for a $1.5 billion professional franchise? There are a TON of responsibilities for the person who has this job.

I know I couldn’t do it. God bless whoever gets hired.

PS- Does anyone want to run the Bottlegate Instagram account? There’s one set up but right now it kind of sucks and rarely gets updated. We’re really missing out on everything that happens on the ‘Gram. You will be compensated in t-shirts and koozies. Send a Twitter DM if you’re interested.

This video was taken at the annual Art Basel fair in Miami where all the contemporary and modern artists gather for galleries, shows, parties, and whatnot (thanks Wikipedia).

Pretty cool stuff from one of the more interesting guys in the NFL. I’m not really up on the whole art scene and don’t really understand it, but I know I couldn’t make this shit:

Good to see Josh putting his mind to something during his suspension and finding an outlet to express himself.

Browns win!

Obviously we all want the #1 pick and say we want the Browns to lose to secure it, but once that game starts I can never bring myself to actively root against the Browns. As things stand now I just want to see a team that hasn’t given up and whose young players are making progress (Manziel).

Let’s look at the game tape.

I would’ve used a $1 or $5 bill but whatever floats your boat I guess.

First win in 63 days and first win in December since 2012. Enjoy it, you assholes.

Now to Manziel, because nothing else matters really:

Were his numbers a little inflated because the 49ers are ass? Yeah, a little bit. The 9ers stink. But don’t look at his numbers. Look at the way he stayed in the pocket. Look at the way he only ran when he had to. Look at the way he interacted with his teammates.

Are we allowed to get excited that maybe, just maybe, a quarterback that the Browns took in the first round is showing actual progress on the field? Yes.

Are we allowed to worry that we’ll wake up Monday or Tuesday morning and see his drunk mug plastered all over the Internet? Yup. As of right now I’m a billion percent more concerned about Johnny off the field than on the field.

It’s OK to have a little positivity after yesterday’s game, it really is. Watching Manziel on the field is so fucking fun. Just compare the Bengals game with Austin Davis to yesterday’s 49ers game. Yesterday we saw some Texas A&M Johnny. Talking shit, signing that $100 bill before the game, pumping up his teammates. This is what I’ve been waiting to see since he’s gotten here. The kid thrives on chaos and when he plays cocky, he plays well.

Newsflash- it’s a good thing if the Browns don’t have to take a quarterback with 2016’s top 5 draft pick, I promise you. If you’re a fan of the Browns, you should be rooting for him to show real progress in these next 3 games. Will it be enough to keep him around? Who knows. But going into an offseason where we know who the starting quarterback is hasn’t happened to this team in a long time. I don’t know what the future holds, but I know yesterday was fun.
