Indians trade Brandon Moss to St. Louis for LHP prospect Rob Kaminsky

For the second year in a row, the Indians send a major leaguer to St. Louis for a minor league prospect. Last year we got outfielder James Ramsey in exchange for Justin Masterson, and apparently it’s Brandon Moss for left hander Rob Kaminsky this year.

Moss fits multiple needs for the Cardinals, with first baseman Matt Adams on the DL and outfielder Matt Holliday re-aggravating his quad injury last night.

Kaminsky was the 28th overall pick out of St. Joseph Regional High School in New Jersey by the Cardinals in 2013. That year he was 0-3 in five starts in their rookie league, notching 28 strikeouts and allowing 9 walks in 22 innings. In 2014 he was 8-2 with a 1.88 ERA in A ball, but saw his strikeout rate drop with only 79 whiffs in 100.2 innings pitched. He did put up  a solid 1.01 WHIP. So far this season, he’s sat down 79 in 94.2 innings and has a 2.09 ERA at High A Palm Beach.

Baseball America had Kaminsky ranked as the Cardinals #5 prospect after the 2014 season. Fangraphs had him at #4 this spring. Plus, Cardinals fans seem pretty pissed on Twitter about losing him, so he must be okay. He’s just 20 years old and will join Brady Aiken and Justus Sheffield as some seriously exciting southpaws in the Indians minor league system.

Looks like Lonnie will be coming back up to the big club to replace him. Guessing we’ll start seeing Tyler Holt in the lineup almost every day, but Chiz was seeing some time in the OF down in Columbus.

Our Final Edition of Offseason #PryorPorn Before Browns Training Camp Starts

Prior Pryor (lol) posts

Welp. This is it. All the hard work Terrelle has been putting in (about 6 weeks) of learning and training for the wide receiver position comes down to this. As he heads into his first training camp at his new position, let’s do one last check in and see what he’s been up to.

He did some dumbbell lunges with chains on his body

He laid on the ground and caught passes. I remember doing something like this in high school and I was God awful at it

Took a picture and worked with Steve Smith at Randy Moss’s camp. Look at the height difference between Smith and Pryor. It’s nuts that a guy that short has had such a successful career.

And the last workout video he posted before camp consisted of him doing some sort of 1 legged toe touch dumbbell raise while getting hit with a pad. NO IDEA if this is even a tad effective but I’m immediately incorporating it into my workout regimen.

Pryor is by far the most interesting storyline of training camp, let’s hope he can make the team and contribute this season. I’m definitely rooting for him.

What did you expect, kid? You don’t go into the 2014-15 National Basketball Association Developmental League Defensive Player of the Year’s house and live to tell about it. There’s really not that much to say about this other than

PS My first piece of athletic advice to my children will be “If you’re ever given the opportunity to take it to the rack on a fully grown adult, DO NOT DO IT.” These things never end in a nice, uncontested layup for the kids.
